Bonga Perkins / Carl Schaper
The worldly-popular Schaper/Bonga range adds two boards for 2008. New is the 9'1"M2, the latest in highperformance longboards. The 10'0" stand-up, paddle model is based on Bonga's innovative, wave riding designs.
Kym Thompson
New in the KT range for 2008 is the 7'2" fun gun. Inspired by Kym's personal surfboards for traveling. The popular 7'8", 8'4" and 9'6" models continue and benefit from the latest enhancements in Three Phase Epoxy construction .
Andrew Logreco / Carl Schaper
The Logreco range adds two retromodern, twin-finned fish, 5'7" and 5'10" sizes. The 6'2" and 6'4" shortys are updated with new lighter laminate schedules.
Jeff Timpone / David Kalama
The Kalama/Timpone team redefined the limits of epoxy surfboards in 2007. For 2008 they've expanded with the a ground breaking, 11'6" stand-up paddle design.
Downing Family
The legendary Downing family joins South Point in 2008 with six incredible boards. The range features two Slippah shortboards, three mid-sized Mini-Hune, and the 9'4" George Downing signature model.

Three Phase Epoxy
Great surfboard shapes are nothing without an equally impressive construction. Entering the fourth season in production, South Point’s Three Phase Epoxy receives a major technological overhaul.
Engineered from the core out, the new Three Phase Epoxy has been optimized
to take advantage of the latest materials and manufacturing techniques.
An emphasis has been placed on producing lighter weight surfboards, especially
in the smaller sizes. With select models nearly a kilo lighter than previous, the
new South Point Three Phase epoxy boards will perform noticeably better.
At the heart of the new Three Phase Epoxy technology is a specially formulated
large sphere, expanded poly styrene (E.P.S). core. The large sphere
structure of the E.P.S. minimizes space between the poly styrene beads,
maximizing the mechanical properties.
Reinforcing the decks of all surfboards this season is a epoxy fiberglass/wood/ epoxy fiberglass sandwich. With excellent impact and tensile strength, wood is nature’s ultimate composite material. This new combination of materials for South Point saves weight and creates a faster reacting, livelier surfboard. All surfboards continue to use the amazingly durable PVT “topsheet” material.
The
topsheet material is directly responsible for the incredible puncture resistance
of South Point surfboards. Additionally the topsheet material allows for
the surfboard graphics to be inlaid in the construction. This means great colors
that are UV resistant and wont’s scratch or chip.
Different length surfboards have different strength requirements. The engineers of the new Three Phase Epoxy construction researched the needs and developed four variations based on surfboard length. As the board lengths increase, so does the stresses. The shorter models feature a base formula of Three Phase Epoxy.
Mid-sized surfboards see an addition of a T-glass stringer to the deck and uni-fiber strip on the bottom. Longer surfboards have multiple T-glass stringers on the deck and larger uni-fiber bottom strips. Lastly the stand-up paddle models have a completely different epoxy glass structure throughout due to their large section and core size.
